Study Tip #21

-Survey Before You Read-

Before you start reading it can be beneficial to take a survey of the material ahead of time.  By reading the title, headings, introduction, conclusion, study guides and review questions before starting to read in earnest it can make the actual process much more valuable.

Study Tip #32

-Sample Problems-

While it can be helpful to do sample problems for any class it is especially useful for math courses.  Most math textbooks have sample equations throughout the chapters.  If you can do the sample questions correctly you’re on the right track.  Furthermore, many teachers use sample problems, or questions similar to the sample problems, on their exams.

Study Tip #48

 -Active listening-

When listening to a lecture, or any information you want to fully understand, it can be helpful to mentally try and ask yourself questions that you want answered.  You can also try and anticipate what the speaker is going to say next.  By using active listening techniques you are more likely to stay fully involved and get the most out of the experience.
